ARRIVAL
By default we expect the participants to arrive at the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw, Pasteura 5 on Monday, April 7, between 8am and 3pm. Transport will be provided from the Faculty of Physics to ECEG in the afternoon.
By air to WAW airport
Warsaw is served by two airports. Frederic Chopin Airport (WAW) is the main airline hub and, rather unusually, it is located within the city limits, which makes the commute to the city center short and convenient. Bus lines 175 and 188 connect the airport to the Ochota Campus; the ride is approximately 15 minutes and you should get off the bus at the Banacha-Szpital stop; from there, it is a 10-minute walk to the Faculty of Physics. Bus tickets (Zone 1+2, 20 minutes) cost PLN 3.40 and can be purchased at a vending machine at the bus stop. Taxi stands and an Uber pickup zone are available in front of the arrivals hall; a ride to the Faculty of Physics should cost around PLN 40-50.
This is the recommended mode of transportation.
By air to WMI airport
Warsaw Modlin Airport is served by some low-cost carriers. It is considerably farther away from the city, which makes the travel longer and probably a bit more expensive. A good and trustworthy description how to reach Warsaw is given on the airport website: https://en.modlinairport.pl/
If you choose to go by train, it is recommended that you get off at Warszawa Ochota station. From there, it is a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute bus ride from the bus stop next to Hotel Sobieski (lines 128, 175 and 504 to Banacha-Szpital stop).
By air to KRK airport
When you land in KRK airport, the next step is to get to Kraków Główny station, by taxi or by a local train whose terminal is connected to the airport. From there, you can go by train to Kielce station. The tickets can either be bought at the ticket office or online: https://www.intercity.pl/en/
By train to Warszawa Centralna station
All long-distance trains stop at this station. Bus lines 128, 175 and 504 will get you to the Banacha-Szpital stop in 10 minutes. Tram lines 7, 9 and 25 will take you to the Och-Teatr stop in 11 minutes and it is a 5-minute walk to the Faculty of Physics from there.
By train to Kielce station
The long-distance train station nearest to ECEG is located in Kielce, a large industrial and academic center. As ECEG is located in its suburban area, there is a bus line (31) connecting Kielce and Chęciny; the travel lasts approximately 50 minutes and there are 33 stops on the way. The bus stop closest to ECEG is Chęciny Małogoska; from there, it is a 1,5-km uphill walk. LOC will arrange transport between the Kielce station and ECEG on request.
DEPARTURE
Transport from ECEG to the Faculty of Physics will be provided on Sunday, April 13 according to the prearranged schedule. Contact LOC in case of special requests.
